LINDEN -- Edward S. Magruder, 75, a former resident of New Richmond, died Thursday in the Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been ill three months and hospitalized two weeks. A resident of Indianapolis for the past three years, he lived previously in Bay Pines, Fla., and before that in New Richmond where he was born and reared. He was a retired painter and decorator and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Veterans Chapter 491, and VFW Seminole Post, Largo, Fla. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert Page of Los Angeles, Calif., and a brother Harry C., of Dunn, N.C. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at Helms Funeral Chapel, Linden. Services there Saturday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Willis Syphers officiating; burial in New Richmond Cemetery. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Surviving are two grandsons, two nieces, and two nephews.
